White Sand Beach Area Guide
Located 15 minutes west from the ferry piers, White Sand Beach is the longest, busiest and most popular beach on the island. The beach, like the name suggests, boasts over two kilometres of powdery white sand fringed by overhanging palm trees, coconut groves and a variety of accommodation that suits every budget. The main road, not too far from the beach, is wide enough for two-way traffic, and flanked by resorts, shops, restaurants, pubs, banks and other conveniences. Although Koh Chang is notorious for its mountainous and hilly landscape, riding a motorbike in this area is a hassle-free experience because the road is flat and without unexpected bumps and holes. However, safety helmet should be worn at all times to prevent accidents and dealing with the police.
Shoppers and fun-seeking night owls are also well-catered for as the beach offers plenty of nightlife options and shops selling everything from cheap beachwear to used paperbacks. Visitors will never go hungry as long as they're staying here, because whatever your growling tummy desires, White Sand Beach is most likely to serve it. Local dishes like spicy papaya salad and international favorites like pizza, pasta and hamburgers can be found along the beach's main road.
Where to stay in White Sand Beach?
Given the perfect length of the beach and its flat and wide main road, walking from one end to another is an achievable task. Most hotels in White Sand Beach are located right on the beachfront, making it ideal for a variety of beach activities. The Beach
If you want to sunbathe, swim or play volleyball, White Sand Beach is wide enough for such activities, especially when the tide is low. Try to avoid the south end of the beach, though, as it tends to be on a rocky side. Most recommended areas are in the middle and the north end of the beach. Nightlife in White Sand Beach
Nightlife in White Sand Beach is probably the most happening of all the beaches on Koh Chang. Popular beach bars like Oodie’s Place and Sabay Bar offer lively nightlife and great live music. There’s no shortage of good restaurants in White Sand Beach. The main road is lined by a wide choice of cuisine from Thai to Italian to Indian. Shopping in White Sand Beach
White Sand Beach has a great concentration of small shops selling cheap beachwear, sunglasses, CDs and DVDs, paintings and Koh Chang souvenirs.
