Lonely Beach Area Guide
Known locally in Thai as ‘Had Tha Nam’, this one kilometre-long stretch towards the south of Kai Bae Beach was once a deserted and secluded sandy beach known among backpackers as ‘Lonely Beach’. The name eventually sticks and the beach is now known exclusively as ‘Lonely Beach’. Usually the last stop for the shared ‘songtaew’ (pick-up truck taxi), Lonely Beach is similar to other beaches on Koh Chang as it tends to be on the rocky side on the southern end. The best place to swim and get involved in a variety of beach activities lies in the northern part of this area. Though not as ‘lonely’ as it once used to be, Lonely Beach nowadays still offers a cheap and peaceful retreat perfect for those who are on a tight budget and wanting to avoid the mainstream crowd.
Where to stay in Lonely Beach?
Due to the rocky landscape of the Lonely Beach, if you want to stay near the stone-free area, it’s best to stay on the hillside above the beach where unobstructed vistas of the bay can be enjoyed. The Beach

Nightlife in Lonely Beach
Considered a competition to the Lonely Beach, nightlife at the Lonely Beach seems to cater mostly to young and independent crowds. Roadside and beachside bars serve cheap drinks and snacks.
