Everything you need to know about Kai Bae Beach
Kai Bae Beach is situated towards the south of Klong Prao Beach and boasts almost 2.5-kilometre stretch of sandy beach. Although, comparing to Kai Bae Beach and Klong Prao Beach, the main road here is much narrower, making it quite a mission to walk freely without having to worry about the oncoming traffic, the beach offers fantastic views of Koh Chang’s neighboring islands such as Koh Yuak, Koh Pli, Koh Man Nok and Koh Man Nai, the latter can be reached by foot during low tide.

Finding a place to stay on Kai Bae Beach is relatively easy as plenty of accommodation fitting every wallet and budget is readily available (although advance booking is highly recommended during the high season). Dotted the two sides of the road as well as along the sea, fine accommodation includes plush resorts like Gaja Buri and Siam View Resort. Budget-conscious beach dwellers are also catered for as a handful of reasonably-priced bungalows like La Luna Resort, Mango Guesthouse, Porn’s Bungalows, Siam Cottage and Kai Bae Plaza and Resort are also on offer. Compared to White Sand and Klong Prao beaches, Kai Bae Beach may be less appealing, but the fact that it’s a wonderful combination between the convenience and touristiness of the Kai Bae Beach and a peacefulness and independence of Lonely Beach, Kai Bae still attracts a fair share of the visitors. You’ll never go hungry in Kai Bae Beach. A wide range of eating options abounds along the stretch of the beach’s main road. Visitors usually have a choice between hotels and resorts’ dining venues, where Thai and international cuisine are on offer, or roadside eateries, where simple local Thai dishes are served. Seafood is also a staple in the menus and is highly recommended as it may possibly be the freshest seafood you’ll ever have. Although shopping on Kai Bae Beach can be somewhat very limited, it still offers some interesting items not found anywhere in Thailand (like T-shirts with the word ‘Koh Chang’ on it). Shops are located close together along the beach’s main road. An easy stroll along the road will find you small shops one after another. Shops on every beach are pretty much the same so don’t expect much variety other than the usual mix of souvenirs, beachwear, Thai paintings, CDs and DVDs and sunglasses. Trinket (handmade accessories and scarves, among others) sellers usually roam the beach and displaying their products right in front of your resort’s beachfront area. (Read more...) |
